The American Youth Soccer Organization (AYSO) learned of allegations against former volunteer, Jason Niemasz of Roseville, Mich., in the fall of 2015. He was suspended from all AYSO activities in November 2015, prior to his arrest and first trial in September 2016. The AYSO Region in Warren, Mich. and the AYSO National Office in Torrance, Calif., cooperated with law enforcement officers during the investigation and remains fully committed provide law enforcement with any assistance through the retrial.

AYSO’s absolute priority is the safety and wellbeing of the youth in all of our programs.  Our hearts go out to the AYSO community in Michigan, and we remain committed to supporting them during this difficult time.

As stated by AYSO National Executive Director, Mike Hoyer, “Our organization is committed to the highest standards of ethical behavior and integrity. All volunteers and staff of AYSO’s undergo a thorough criminal background screening, and we have a strict policy against inappropriate and illegal behavior on part of any staff member, volunteer or club member in our organization.”
